First Roll Over!

You rolled over for the first time today! We were just sitting down to eat lunch when we saw that you were about to do it and I grabbed the camera really quick. You are also starting to sit up on your own! On Saturday (22nd) I was sitting you up and you stayed up a long time on your own. I can't believe how much you are growing up already! I'm so excited to spend our first Christmas together!!

First Food

You had your first bite of food today!

A yummy blend of rice cereal and formula.

I got you to eat a little bit...

But you were really not impressed.

We'll try some sweet potatoes next week!

4 Months Old

You are four months old today! You wear size 3-6 Month clothes and a size "2" diaper. You wear a size 1 shoe (when you wear shoes).  You weigh 13 pounds 13 ounces. You are drinking between 6.5 and 8 ounces a bottle and usually 5 bottles a day.  You are awake a lot of the day and were sleeping through the night, but recently started waking up around 5 a.m.  You still LOVE to be in your swing, but also enjoying chillin' on the Nap Nanny.  You have been really sick with ear infections this past month and have really gotten used to being held and now demand to be held most of your waking hours.  Still, no matter how sick you are, you always have the biggest smiles for all of us and it just melts my heart!  You are so pretty and I love the fact that your cheeks are still so chubby.  Your eyes are really starting to look brown...I'm 95% sure that's what color they will be.  Dad will just have to be outnumbered!  When people see you, they ALWAYS say that you look just like a doll - and you do!  You LOVE your sister.  You really smile when you see her and watch everything that she does.  You have strong legs and I'm thinking that you might walk early.  I was so happy to spend this Thanksgiving with you - I was SO THANKFUL FOR YOU!

First Laugh

You had your first laugh today and here's a picture I took right afterwards. Your sister is starting to play with you and she did something that you thought was funny and you laughed! We got you to laugh several other times that night. I've heard you in your sleep a couple of times, so I knew you had in it you! Precious sounds!

3 Months Old

You are three months old today! You wear size 0-3 Month clothes and a size "1" diaper. I think you are in a size 0 shoe still, but I imagine you could probably wear 1's.  We just went to the doctor (your first ear infection) and you weighed 11 pounds 13 ounces. You are drinking between 5.5 and 6.5 ounces a bottle and usually 5 bottles a day.  You are awake a lot of the day and sleeping through the night (YAY!).  You still LOVE to be in your swing.  But, you still enjoy "talking" to Momma and Sissy and smiling at us both.  You are very social and so easy-going.  You are just the prettiest little thing!  Your eyes are still slate grey, but I'm seeing a few streaks of brown in them, so not sure what color they will end up being.  You are also an EXCELLENT shopper!  I was hesitant to take you to the grocery store for the first time, but you did great up until the very end!  I'm so in love with you and so glad to be your Momma!

First Halloween

Your first Halloween and you were a precious little ladybug!  We had 2 costumes for you.  They were hand-me-downs from sister, but you looked so precious in them.  We went to a Halloween Carnival at church.  You enjoyed spending lots of time with either Momma or Daddy while sister played and played.

On Halloween night, you helped Momma pass out candy while sister went trick-or-treating.  You were such a sweet thing - even though you've been pretty sick.

You were baptized just shy of 3 months.  You wore your special handkerchief hat that you also wore home from the hospital (a few snips and it will be the handkerchief you can use on your wedding day).  You also wore the baptism dress that your sister wore.  This isn't a special dress, but it sure is beautiful!  I will save it for you girls so that you can baptize your babies in it if you choose.  Here's you and Momma right before the service started.  Helps to have a bottle down for sure.

Then, we met as a family to baptize you in the front of the church.

Then, the Rev. Camille baptized you and showed you off to church.  All the children were in front and then we all sang "Jesus Loves Me".  You did SO GOOD and didn't cry or fuss!  I was extremely pleased!

After the service, we all went and ate at Larry's Pizza and opened your special presents.  You got a lamb lovey, a cross plaque and lots of clothes and books.  You sure are LOVED by your family and friends and of course, GOD!!  What a perfect day!

Held Up

This is your favorite way to be held. You detest being held "like a baby" unless you are drinking a bottle. You have great use if your neck and hold your head up really well, so I've been holding you like this a lot! You are so adorable and most people call you a "living doll". You are so good and laid back. You like being held (like that) and you LOVE your swing. Those are your two favorite things in the world right now.

We just went to your 2 month checkup (at a little over 2 1/2 months) and you were 11 pounds 3.5 ounces, 22.5 inches and head circumference 16 inches. For your height/weight ratio, you are just about in the 50th percentile, so you are doing perfect! And, you really are doing great. You drink anywhere between 4.5 and 5.5 ounces of formula 5-6 times a day. You are sleeping all night now - usually from around 8 p.m. to 5:45 a.m. (knock on wood!). You are coo'ing and smiling like crazy. And, you are really, really happy and quite fit your nickname! You are such an easy baby and I am so glad! I love your laid-back, happy personality and know you will go far in life with it. Love you so much!

Your sister has nicknamed you "Happy". It's so cute! It comes from her hearing is say "that baby happy" or "that baby not happy" when you are crying. I can't get her to pose in pictures with you or hold you yet. She's still so young at 2 and she loves you, but I think she still doesn't completely understand you yet. However, she adores you and if she doesn't see you in the mornings after I get her up, will run around the house saying "Happy happy" until she finds you!

2 Months Old

You are two months old today! You wear size 0-3 Month clothes and a size "1" diaper. I finally put one pair of shoes on you, and you are in a size 0.  We haven't been to your 2 month check-up yet, but I'm sure you are over 10 pounds and maybe close to 11.  You are drinking between 4 and 5.5 ounces a bottle and usually 6 bottles a day.  You are awake part of the day, but still sleeping.  During your awake time, you LOVE to be in your swing.  That's your favorite thing.  You also enjoy "talking" to Momma and Sissy and smiling at us both.  You are so adorable!  You are sleeping up to a 7-8 hour stretch!  Unfortunately, it starts around 7:00 p.m., so you aren't quite making it through the night just yet.  However, you are getting there and honestly, I don't mind getting up with you because it gives me some special time just with you where nothing else is going on.  :)  I love you so much and am so lucky that you are my daughter!

First Smile!

You had your first real smile today and the second time I got it on camera. It's the most beautiful smile and I can see the joy in your eyes! I was just talking to you and smiling and it must have been contagious. Your sister and I had fun after that saying "cheese" to you!

Fall Fun

With slightly cooler temperatures over the weekend, we decided to do a few fall things as a family. First stop, to pick out our pumpkins! Sister and Daddy picked us out some good ones.

The next day, we went to a pumpkin patch in Bryant. There was a ton of stuff to do there and we did it all from a petting zoo, to a hay ride, to a train ride, to a bounce house, to picking out another pumpkin. Course, you were asleep most of the time. We did let you have a wagon ride. :)

Here you are in the pumpkin patch!

And the only pic I could get of you and sister. She moves so fast now!

After we got home, we took a few more picture. Here you are smiling at sister. You love to watch her. Aunt Kara bought you the cat hat and socks. You looked so cute in them!

I asked sister to give you a kiss and she gave you a cheek. She is so funny! That's what she gives all of us. She loves "that baby"!

Sisters, Play & Feeding

You are still too young to play, but you have been enjoying spending some of your awake time on the Baby Einstein mat. Your sister has been so sweet to you and when you on it, she loves to play along side you. I just know you will be the best of friends!

You've has a few eating problems. After I switched you to the bottle, you started projectile vomiting, which was scary. However, I switched you to a more sensitive formula and switched you to a slower flow bottle and you quit (thank goodness!). However, you have still been having a few issues, crying during late afternoon feelings and general uncomfortable movements while eating, which can sometimes be reflux. However, I'm still trying to decide if it's reflux or just the fact that you eat too much too often a lot and get tummy aches. I went ahead and got some baby Zantac from the doctor, but I don't give it to you unless you are bad off. You have actually been doing better with slightly bigger feeds. Today, you have had 5 1/2 ounces at 12:30 am and at 6:00 am! By the way, thank you so much for the sleep! ;)

1 Month Old

You are one month old today! You wear size "Newborn" and 0-3 Month clothes and a size "N" diaper. I haven't put shoes on you yet, but I imagine you wear the smallest size. I'm not sure of what you weigh, but I think it's around 9 pounds. You are starting to wake up from "the big sleep" and become a little more alert and active. You are such a good and easy baby! You pretty much just like to be warm and full and you are happy. You like watching your sister and love it when people talk to you. We are so in live with you and are so grateful for this past amazing month!

Welcome Ava!

After having contractions for a week and two trips to the hospital to stop them, we finally got the thumbs up that you could arrive on Wednesday, August 1st!  I started having 4 minute apart contractions around 3:30 p.m. and Daddy and Grandma immediately came over.  Grandma came to stay with your sister.  We went to the hospital and our doctor (Ashley Deed) was at the L&D desk and gave the go-ahead.  They had been trying to stop them because lung development is crucial during the 37th week, but you were just a couple days short of week 38 that day.  So, they started prepping me for your birth!  It was a bit scary to undergo surgery...even though I had done it before with your sister.  However, I kept my eye on the prize (you!).  Daddy took this picture as they were taking me back to surgery (he had to stay outside for a minute).

Long enough for him to take his traditional shot:

This is the first picture of you!!

Here they are cutting your umbilical cord:

Daddy got to see you first and then, for what seemed like an eternity, they finally brought you to me and this is when I first got to see you.  I can't tell you how completely happy I felt when I got to see you and knew that you were healthy and that everything was purely perfect!  My love for you in that moment was so...unreal!  No words can describe it.  I felt truly blessed and so honored to be your mother.  I can't tell you just how much I love you!

And, finally I got to hold you.  You were so little and completely sleepy.

You barely opened your eyes that whole night!

So, you were born at 8:10 p.m. on August 1st and weighed 7 pounds and 2 ounces.  You were 18.5 inches in length and completely perfect!

Your sister was the first person to meet you!  It was 10:30 p.m. and WAAAYY past her bedtime, so she was beyond tired and very confused, but she seemed to understand and be interested.  I can't possibly tell you how good she did!  She accepted you and loved you from the moment she heard you crying.

This is your first picture with both of your parents!

And, another picture with your very proud Momma.

Aren't you beautiful?!  I got you this yellow and grey dress and hat from so that it would be completely original and unique (just like you!).

You had a lot of visitors.  Papa and Nana came up the very next morning to visit you.

And, Jojo came the next day too.  She was out of town when you arrived and came to see you the moment that she could.

Grandma had met you the night before when she brought your sister, but here's a picture of her holding you.

Mimi got to see you too!  And, somewhere in heaven, Pops was looking down smiling.

First picture as a family of 4!!!  My dreams have come true!

Finally, it was time to go home!  We put you in your handkerchief hat.  This hat was given to you by your great, great Aunt Mary (my Granny's sister).  When it is your wedding day, you clip a few threads and this turns into a handkerchief for your wedding day.

Aunt Kara finally came up to meet you on our last day there (your cousins had been sick) and helped us out to the car.

You are finally in the car in the back seat with sissy and ready to go!

Momma created a banner for you that said "Welcome Ava!" for the house.

And, Daddy decorated the house with balloons, which, unfortunately, popped before we got home because of the heat.  Glad he took a picture!

And, here's the banner I made for the hospital door and home door that has your stats on it.

Again, I cannot possibly express how completely in love we are with you.  You make our family complete and I can't wait to spend my life with you!!  I love you!!!
